Want To Find Out More About Terry Angelos?

Terry Angelos
Curiosity is my compass, uncluttered faith my bedrock and a life filled with wonder, purpose, authenticity and adventure my goal.

Born in 1969, I grew up barefoot and wide-eyed in the wilds of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), where war and wonder lived side by side. My earliest memories are soaked in nature and contradiction — making mud pies, collecting butterflies, rescuing baby birds, living with guns and roadblocks, and asking far too many questions.

A Curious Life

That early curiosity and hunger to explore never left me. It’s the thread that’s pulled me through many chapters of my life: from fine artist to creative entrepreneur, from call girl to cult member, from mother to memoirist.

When I was nine, I used a tube of toothpaste as glue and turned a bag of confetti into a giant mosaic on my bedroom wall. That knack for making something magical out of the unexpected has shaped my life ever since.

By High School I was designing costumes for the Michaelhouse production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and in my matric year won the Atkinson Prize for best art student.

A Creative Career

Terry's Studio

Over the years, I’ve built a versatile creative career as an artist, illustrator, author and speaker rooted in storytelling and nature.

I’ve painted murals for restaurants in Johannesburg, launched a children’s events business called Wart and Fish Trading, and founded the award-winning Homegrown Design Fair.

I’ve collaborated with Mr Price Home on textile collections and a glamping showcase, opened my own concept store, Anthology, and staged countless exhibitions and pop-up shops.

Terry Angelos’ Studio is more than just a workspace. It’s a reflection of a lifetime of experiences — a place where art, storytelling, and memory come together.

Life Lately

Juniper

In 2020, I set up a permanent stall at the Shongweni Farmers Market, which has become a “must-see” stop for locals and visitors. My art prints and textiles—quirky, playful, and uniquely South African—continue to find their way into homes around the world.

Today, I live on the edge of a river in Durban, South Africa, surrounded by tropical jungle, where the birds are noisy, the light is golden, and everything is a little bit overgrown.

My studio is filled with collected curiosities — feathers, bones, seed pods, and fragments of pattern and story.

I’m married to the love of my life, my three children are all grown, and I share the space with a scrappy little pug named Juniper.
